Position: Principal Facilities Engineer
Location: AMD-Molecular Business Unit, Des Plaines, Illinois
Role Overview:
The Principal Facilities Engineer is responsible for ensuring we are able to provide a productive work environment for manufacturing operations, laboratory testing, warehousing, offices, common areas and associated facility infrastructure for multiple business units at a complex campus.
What You’ll Work On:
- Direct engineering design and review for building systems: HVAC Fire Protection, Plumbing, Electrical, Process Water, Space Management, Architectural Design
- Coordinate capital project execution: planning, budget, schedule, quality of workmanship, communication, and compliance with all local, state, Abbott and federal code requirements.
- Lead diverse team of senior engineers and planners to execute strategic commitments. Manage recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluations.
- Represent Abbott in regulatory audits with specific responsibility as subject matter expert for Environmental Monitoring, Deionized Water, and technical expert for Facilities systems.
- Manage update to Long-Range Space Plan, Capital LRP and Business Continuity plans for the Dallas campus.
- Establish/maintain professional relationships with key Abbott customers, corporate engineering liaisons, suppliers, construction contractors, engineering firms, and support functions.
- Manage resource loading and workflow for engineering team including routine work orders as well as complex capital projects.
- Coordinate closely with other Facilities functions including EHS, OHS, Maintenance, Building Services, Security and senior management to provide a productive work environment.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
- 8 years of plant engineering experience.
- 2 years of Supervisory experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work across functions and organizations in a global environment.
- Excellent communication skills with all levels and functions; capable of presenting complex financial information in easy-to-understand formats and terms.
- Operate independently and adaptable to changing requirements.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.

The base pay for this position is $97,300.00 – $194,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
